Students got to get a little loco while acting out Spanish phrases. The person with the flashcard on their forehead had to guess what the Spanish phrase was.

HACE FRIO
Now that the weather is getting colder, I thought you could use some winter terms! Try to use these at school and at home!
Hace frío (ahh-say free-yo) - It's cold.
Nieve (Nee-A-vay) - It's snowing.
Necesito chocolate caliente. (Ne-se-see-to cho-co-lah-tay call-ee-en-tay) - I need hot chocolate.
hombre de nieve (om-bray day nee-A-vay) - snow man

Bendigas
The students like to share bendigas (blessings) in Spanish class and talk about how God has blessed us. I have to say my biggest bendigas lately have been the wonderful estudiantes here at HCS! You guys rock and I thank God that I have the opportunity to teach you all Spanish this year.
Here is a link to one of my fave songs. It's one of those songs that you can't help but sing along, and maybe even dance.:) Disfrute! Enjoy!

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed el 15 de septiembre through el 15 de octubre. What a great opportunity for us to celebrate the diverse Hispanic cultures that exist in our communities.
How are you going to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month? Here are some ideas! Have fun and get your whole familia involved!
-Eat dinner at an authentic Hispanic restaurante. Ask Sra. Neher for a list of places around our community. (Taco Bell doesn't count as authentic!)
-Read a Hispanic folktale. You may look online or use the link on the right of this blog to find some.
-Listen to Spanish music.
-Read about Hispanic heroes. Ask Sra. Neher for a list of important Hispanics who have changed the world! (some of my faves - Cesar Chavez, Selena Quintanilla, Ellen Ochoa, Roberto Clemente, and Rita Moreno)
-Attend a Spanish speaking church (ask Sra Neher for a list of churches in the community)
